How it works

This converter is one half of a two-part wireless link. On its own it plugs into a GX device and gives it a Zigbee radio. Paired with the matching Zigbee to RS485 converter, data passes wirelessly between the GX device and RS485-connected equipment such as battery management systems or energy meters.

Applications

Useful where a physical RS485 run is impractical: across separate buildings, through finished walls, or over longer distances on one site. It also suits retrofit jobs where opening up existing structures to run new cable is not an option.

Installation notes

Fit alongside the Victron Zigbee to RS485 converter; on its own it does nothing. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or an experienced solar installer familiar with Victron GX equipment. Check the GX device firmware is current before commissioning, since older firmware may not recognise the converter.
