How it works

A transfer switch selects between two AC inputs, typically a primary source such as mains or shore power and a secondary source such as a generator or inverter output. When the primary source fails or is disconnected, the switch moves the load to the secondary source and prevents backfeed. The 5kVA rating sets the maximum continuous load the switch can carry, and the 200 to 250Vac range covers standard single-phase supply across the UK and EU without adjustment.

Installation notes

This switch must be installed by a qualified electrician, wired in accordance with BS 7671 and any applicable local regulations. For grid-connected UK systems, check G98 or G99 compliance as appropriate. Do not install where exposed to moisture unless housed in a suitably rated enclosure, and confirm the connected load stays within the 5kVA rated capacity.
