The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Pro is a pulse-width modulation solar charge controller rated at 10A for 12V and 24V battery systems. It suits small off-grid solar installations that need reliable battery charging without the cost of an MPPT charge controller. A load output and VictronConnect-compatible interface make it practical for installers working on compact solar setups.

How it works

PWM charge controllers connect the solar panel directly to the battery once it reaches a set voltage, then switch the connection on and off rapidly to hold the correct charge level. This works well where panel voltage is closely matched to battery voltage, and the BlueSolar PWM-Pro is built for exactly that: small 12V and 24V systems using lead-acid battery chemistries.

The Pro designation comes from the VE.Direct port. Fitted with the optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle, it gives full configuration and monitoring through the VictronConnect app, with no display needed on the unit itself. Battery type, load behaviour, streetlight timers and low-voltage disconnect thresholds can all be set from the app.

Installation notes

Intended for lead-acid battery chemistries in 12V or 24V systems. Check the solar panel's open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current fall within the controller's rated limits before fitting. The VE.Direct port needs the separately purchased VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle for wireless monitoring. Suitable for competent self-installation in low-voltage DC systems, though any mains-connected or grid-tied work should go to a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer.
