Product overview

The Orion-Tr range uses a transformer-based design for true galvanic isolation. This matters in dual-battery systems where the two banks serve different purposes, such as a starter battery and a leisure battery in a motorhome, or a bow thruster bank and a house bank on a boat. Without isolation, a fault on one circuit can spread to the other. This unit stops that happening.

At 110W and 9A, it is sized for moderate secondary battery charging. It maintains a leisure or auxiliary battery while the vehicle or vessel is running, without pulling excessive current from the primary source. The fixed output voltage needs no programming, so installation is simpler than with adjustable variants.

The aluminium enclosure dissipates heat without forced cooling in most applications. There is no minimum load requirement, so the converter can stay connected once the secondary battery is fully charged.

Installation notes

Fitting should be done by a qualified electrician or experienced 12V systems installer. Size and fuse the cables on both input and output sides according to the unit's current rating. Input and output circuits must not share a common ground if galvanic isolation is to be kept intact. Marine installations should follow the relevant BMEA or IEC wiring standards. This unit is not intended for grid-connected or mains-voltage use.
