Smart charging control

Dynamic current control is the practical benefit of this charger. Rather than charging at a fixed rate, the station adjusts its output current based on rules configured through the GX device. That's useful on sites with export limits or where grid import costs need managing. The charger connects over a local network and shows up in VRM alongside the rest of the Victron system. Its Type 2 connector is the standard required for new EV charge points across the UK and EU, so it works with current passenger and light commercial vehicles.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. In the UK, EV charge point installations fall under Part P of the Building Regulations and need notifying to the relevant building control authority. A Victron GX device is required for the smart charging features to work. Check that the supply circuit is rated for the unit's maximum charge current, and avoid fitting it anywhere exposed to direct weather without suitable enclosure protection.
