How the AGM design works

A glass mat separator holds the electrolyte in place, so there is no free liquid inside the cell. That makes the battery safe to fit in enclosed spaces, vehicles and cabinets where a flooded battery would not be suitable. The valve-regulated design means no water top-ups and no venting of hydrogen under normal use.

C20 rating and cycle use

The 22Ah figure is measured over a 20-hour discharge period. Drawing higher currents over shorter periods reduces the available capacity, which is normal lead-acid behaviour. The plate construction here is built for regular deep discharges rather than standby float duty alone, so pairing it with a Victron MPPT charge controller or Blue Smart charger keeps the correct charge profile applied and protects cycle life.
