The Victron VE.Direct Cable links VE.Direct-compatible devices to each other, or to a computer, phone or display, for monitoring and configuration. At 1.8 metres it suits panel-mounted and cabinet installations where the device and monitoring interface sit close together.

Product overview

VE.Direct is Victron's own serial communication protocol, used across their product range. The cable uses a dedicated connector at each end and passes data between devices such as MPPT charge controllers, BMV battery monitors and Phoenix inverters. It is the physical link required before any VE.Direct adapter, whether USB, Bluetooth or RS232, can function.

The 1.8m length is the most commonly specified option where the charge controller or inverter sits within roughly a metre of the monitoring display or interface dongle. Victron also offers 3m and 5m variants for longer runs. This cable carries no mains or battery power; it is a data cable only.

Installation notes

This is a low-voltage data cable, not a mains or high-current battery cable. It can be connected and disconnected without specialist electrical knowledge. Check that the VE.Direct port on each device is free before connecting. If it forms part of a larger solar or battery system, the wider installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer.
