The Victron Energy smallBMS is a compact battery management system built for Victron LiFePO4 lithium batteries. It protects against over-charge, over-discharge and excessive discharge current, which suits small off-grid systems, marine installs and mobile setups where space and weight matter.

Product overview
The smallBMS monitors cell voltages in a Victron LiFePO4 battery and acts through two outputs, load disconnect and charge disconnect. It is intended for smaller systems that don't need a full BMS with CAN-bus communication. It works alongside Victron components such as BatteryProtect and compatible MPPT solar charge controllers. It does not provide active cell balancing or communication to a GX device, so check compatibility with your specific battery model before installing.

Installation notes
Use the smallBMS only with compatible Victron LiFePO4 batteries. It is not suitable for lead-acid, AGM or gel chemistries. Wiring should be done by a qualified electrician familiar with lithium battery systems, since incorrect wiring of the disconnect outputs can damage the battery or cause system failure. Refer to Victron's wiring schematics for your specific battery and system before commissioning.
