The Victron Phoenix Charger 24/16 (2+1) is a 24V adaptive battery charger built for marine, vehicle and off-grid backup systems. It delivers up to 16A to the main battery bank and a separate 4A to a starter battery, so two battery groups stay charged from one unit.

Battery care and protection

BatterySafe mode limits the rate of voltage rise once a battery reaches gassing voltage, reducing excess gassing on demanding charge cycles. After 24 hours without a discharge the charger drops into Storage mode, holding the battery at a reduced voltage to cut gassing and plate corrosion, then periodically raising it back to absorption level to guard against stratification and sulphation.

A supplied temperature sensor lets the charger adjust charging voltage as battery temperature changes, useful with sealed batteries or where ambient conditions vary. A battery voltage sensing input compensates for voltage loss in the charging cables, so the battery terminals receive the correct voltage.

Configuration and monitoring

An RS-485 port allows connection to a computer via the Victron MK2-USB interface and VEConfigure software, so charging parameters can be set for the battery system in use. This model does not include a VE.Direct interface.

Protection

Built-in protection covers short circuit, reverse battery polarity, excessive battery voltage and excessive temperature, alongside the IP21 aluminium housing.
