Product overview

The Orion-Tr range uses a transformer-based topology for true galvanic isolation between input and output circuits. This matters in marine and vehicle installations, where a shared ground between battery banks can cause corrosion, interference or fault propagation. The two circuits stay electrically independent even though power passes between them.

At 240W continuous output, this unit suits powering 12V loads from a 24V house bank, charging a 12V service battery from a 24V alternator system, or feeding a 12V distribution circuit in a mixed-voltage installation. The adjustable output lets installers compensate for cable voltage drop or set a specific charge voltage when topping up a secondary battery.

This is a non-smart converter: no MPPT, no Bluetooth, no load detection or programmable charge algorithms. Victron's Orion-Tr Smart range covers those requirements instead.

Installation notes

Fit should be carried out by a qualified electrician or system integrator familiar with DC power systems. Fuse the input wiring close to the source battery and size cabling for the input current at 24V; fuse the output independently too. Marine installs should follow NMEA or RCD 2013/53/EU wiring standards as applicable. Mount in a ventilated location, clear of water ingress, and never exceed the rated input voltage range.
