Product overview

The onboard BMS handles cell-level protection on its own and can communicate with compatible Victron chargers and inverter-chargers over VE.Bus or VE.Direct, allowing coordinated charge management across a system. The Smart designation refers to the built-in Bluetooth interface, which lets an installer or owner read live data and review logs through the Victron Connect app without wiring in a separate display or shunt. That is useful during commissioning, and for checking on marine or vehicle installations where the battery itself is hard to reach.

When wiring several units together in series or parallel, Victron's published guidance on battery bank configuration should be followed so charging stays balanced and the BMS operates correctly.

Installation notes

Fit this battery with a qualified electrician or an installer experienced with lithium systems. The internal BMS protects at cell level, but correct fusing, cabling and charge source setup remain the installer's responsibility. Any connected charger, solar charge controller or inverter-charger needs to be set to a lithium profile suited to 12.8V LiFePO4 chemistry.
