The Victron BatteryProtect 12/24V-65A is an electronic battery isolator that disconnects a load from the battery once voltage drops to a damaging level. Built for 12V and 24V systems, it suits marine, off-grid and vehicle installations where over-discharge protection matters.

How it works

The unit monitors battery voltage continuously and disconnects the load circuit once voltage falls below the programmed threshold, which prevents deep discharge, the main cause of early battery failure in lead-acid and lithium systems. When the battery recovers to the reconnect voltage, the load is restored automatically after a short delay.

The rotary switch offers pre-set voltage profiles for common battery chemistries and system voltages. The remote input lets a BMS trigger a disconnect independently of the voltage threshold, making this a useful last line of defence in lithium installations where fast load shedding is needed. An alarm output can drive an LED or feed a monitoring system ahead of a full disconnect.

Installation notes

Fit the BatteryProtect in the load circuit only, never between the battery and a charger. It is not suitable for inverters or other inductive loads unless specified. Size the wiring for the 65A rating and protect it with a fuse at the battery. Installation by a qualified 12V or marine electrician is recommended, especially for lithium systems where correct BMS integration matters.
