Product overview

The fibreglass mat inside an AGM battery absorbs and immobilises the electrolyte, removing the risk of acid spillage and allowing installation in any orientation except inverted. That makes it a practical choice for marine, vehicle and enclosed cabinet installations where a flooded battery would not be suitable. Sealed construction means no hydrogen venting under normal conditions, though ventilation in enclosed spaces is still sensible.

Units can be wired in parallel for larger 12V banks, or in series-parallel for 24V or 48V systems. Victron's Battery Monitor range can track state of charge across a multi-battery bank.

Applications

Suited to off-grid solar storage, marine house battery banks, motorhome leisure systems, and backup power for telecoms or critical equipment. It can also form part of a 12V, 24V or 48V bank when wired in series or parallel.

Installation notes

At 62.5 kg, moving and positioning this battery needs two people or mechanical handling equipment. Use correctly sized M8 bolts and the right torque on the terminals; over-tightening risks damage. In a bank, use cables of matched length and cross-section for balanced charging. Charge with an AGM-specific profile rather than a flooded or gel setting, and ventilate enclosed installation spaces.
