Where it fits in the range

The 12/1200 sits in Victron's VE.Direct inverter range, between the basic Phoenix range and the full MultiPlus hybrid inverter/charger series. The VE.Direct port allows monitoring and control via a Victron GX device, a BMV battery monitor, or the VictronConnect app through a VE.Direct to USB or Bluetooth dongle. For a monitored off-grid or backup system on a budget, that integration matters.

At 1200W continuous output the unit powers lighting circuits, small appliances, power tools and similar loads from a 12V battery bank. It will not sustain high-draw loads such as electric kettles or large compressors for extended periods, so load planning matters. The pure sine wave output suits inductive loads such as motors and equipment needing a clean AC waveform.

This is a DC to AC inverter only, with no built-in battery charger or solar charge controller. It is intended to work alongside a suitable charger or solar input as part of a wider system.

Installation notes

Connect this inverter to a 12V DC battery bank with appropriately rated DC cabling and fusing. High DC currents are present at 1200W output, and incorrect cabling or fusing is a fire risk, so installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator. The AC output does not carry G98 or G99 grid-tie approval and is not intended for connection to the public grid. Allow adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent thermal shutdown under sustained load.
