Description
The Victron LiFePO4 battery 12.8V 100Ah NG is a lithium iron phosphate drop-in battery built for 12V solar, marine and off-grid systems. It replaces a conventional lead-acid battery where weight, cycle life and depth of discharge matter. The NG series has its battery management system built into the cell housing rather than fitted as a separate board.
Key features
- Chemistry, LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate), a stable cell type with no thermal runaway risk under normal operating conditions.
- Voltage and capacity, 12.8V nominal, 100Ah, giving 1.28kWh of usable energy.
- Protection, integrated BMS guards against over-charge, over-discharge, over-temperature and short circuit, no external protection board needed.
- Weight, 9.5kg, notably lighter than an equivalent AGM or flooded lead-acid unit, which typically runs 25 to 30kg.
- Depth of discharge, usable DoD up to 80% without significant capacity loss.
- System building, up to 4 units can be connected in series for 48V systems, or in parallel to add capacity.
Compatibility
The battery works with Victron MPPT solar charge controllers, MultiPlus inverter/chargers, and other Victron equipment set to a lithium charging profile. Paired with a Victron Battery Monitor or GX device, battery data is visible remotely through VRM.
Applications
Suited to 12V solar storage in cabins and outbuildings, marine and narrowboat house banks, campervan and motorhome leisure battery replacement, portable off-grid setups, and backup power for telecoms, CCTV or remote monitoring equipment. Multiple units can form the basis of a larger 24V or 48V bank.
Installation notes
Fit by a qualified electrician or accredited installer familiar with lithium systems. Set the charge controller and inverter/charger to a lithium-compatible charging profile before connecting; do not use an AGM or lead-acid charge profile. When linking units in series or parallel, all batteries should share the same type, age and state of charge.
