Product overview
VE.Direct is Victron's own serial protocol, used across much of their range. This cable bridges that protocol to USB-C so a technician can connect straight from a modern laptop or tablet without a USB-A adapter in the middle.
It works alongside the free VictronConnect app on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Through the app you can read live data, change settings and push firmware to the connected device. That makes it useful during commissioning, routine maintenance and fault diagnosis on site.
This is the USB-C version of the interface, distinct from the USB-A variant. If your laptop or tablet only has USB-C ports, this is the correct cable. No drivers are normally required, though checking VictronConnect's compatibility list for your operating system before use is worthwhile.

Used for configuring MPPT solar charge controllers on site from a USB-C device, reading and logging BMV battery monitor data during commissioning or fault-finding, updating firmware on VE.Direct-equipped Victron devices, and checking Phoenix inverter status through VictronConnect. Installation notes
This is a data cable only, it does not carry charge current or control power circuits. Connect the VE.Direct end to the target device and the USB-C end to your computer or tablet, then open VictronConnect. The Victron device must be powered on before communication will work. No specialist electrical installation is needed to use the cable itself, though work on the wider solar or battery system should be carried out by a qualified installer.
