The PV-Guard-600 is a Type 2 DC surge protection device for solar panel arrays and off-grid inverters, rated 600VDC and 40kA. It meets EN50539-11 and uses a high energy varistor to protect DC circuits from lightning strikes and indirect surges. Applications
This surge protection device sits in the DC combiner box of an off-grid or grid-tie solar inverter system, wired across the string conductors up to 600VDC. It guards the solar panels and the inverter against damage from lightning strikes and indirect surge events reaching the DC side of the installation.
Installation notes
Connect the PV-Guard-600 in parallel with the DC PV string conductors. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Do not fit this device on systems where the string voltage exceeds 600VDC.
