The Victron Orion-Tr 24/12-9A is a galvanically isolated DC-DC converter that takes a 24V DC input and delivers a regulated 12V DC output at up to 9A continuous, giving 110W of usable power. It suits vehicles, boats and off-grid systems where two battery banks need to stay electrically separate from one another.

How it works

The Orion-Tr range uses an isolated transformer topology. In dual-battery setups this stops a 24V service bank from creating a ground fault path when it feeds 12V accessories, and it keeps a fault on the 12V side from feeding back into the 24V bank.

At 110W, it's suited to loads like lighting circuits, control electronics, communications gear, or charging a smaller 12V battery from a larger 24V bank. It is a converter for continuous load supply, not a battery-to-battery charger. If you need to charge a 12V battery from a 24V source with proper charge profiles, the Orion-Tr Smart range is the correct product instead.

Installation notes

Fit this with correct fusing on both input and output sides, matched to the wire gauge used, in a ventilated location away from direct water ingress. For marine use, follow the relevant NMEA or flag-state wiring standards. It is not suitable for use with AC supplies.
