How it works

A multi-stage MPPT algorithm draws the maximum available power from the connected PV array and delivers it to the battery at the correct charge voltage. Unlike PWM controllers, MPPT converts excess PV voltage into extra charge current, useful in colder climates where panel voltages rise. On a 48V battery system, the 20A output represents up to 960W of charge power from a 100V-maximum input.

Bluetooth lets you configure and monitor the controller from a phone, with no extra hardware needed. VictronConnect shows charge settings, historical data, battery voltage trends and fault logs. An optional VE.Direct port connects the unit to a Victron GX device such as CCGX, Cerbo GX or Venus GX, extending monitoring to the VRM online portal.

Applications

Installation notes

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced solar installer. The PV array's open-circuit voltage must never exceed 100V, including in cold weather when panel Voc rises. Check the battery chemistry setting in VictronConnect before commissioning, particularly for lithium batteries. A VE.Direct cable is needed separately to connect to a Victron GX device. This unit is not grid-tied.
