The Victron Orion-Tr 12/24-15A is a galvanically isolated DC-DC converter that steps up a 12V supply to a regulated 24V output at up to 15A, giving 360W continuous. It suits mobile, marine and off-grid installations where two battery banks need to stay electrically separate from each other.

Why isolation matters
Non-isolated converters share a common ground between input and output. In dual-battery vehicle or marine setups, that shared ground can cause charging faults, corrosion from stray currents, or damage to onboard electronics. The Orion-Tr's galvanic barrier removes that risk. At 360W it can charge a 24V service bank from a 12V starter circuit, or run a 24V load from a 12V source, and the output voltage stays regulated even when the input battery is under load from other equipment. The aluminium housing manages heat passively, with no fan needed.

Installation notes
Fit this by a qualified electrician or experienced marine or vehicle electrical engineer. Wiring on both input and output must be correctly rated for the current, with fusing on each side. Marine installs should follow NMEA and RCD Directive wiring standards. Do not exceed the specified input voltage range, and check lithium battery compatibility against the battery's BMS before connecting.
