The Voltasol ESS 5500W is a single-phase hybrid inverter and battery charger built for energy storage systems running Pylontech lithium batteries. It delivers 5.5kW continuous output with a 100A solar and AC charger, and its BMS communication is compatible with Pylontech US3000C, US5000C and legacy US2000C modules. An energy meter and Modbus card come pre-installed.

Operating modes

The inverter can run off-grid with the grid as a backup source, or in hybrid mode where the inverter and grid supply AC loads together. Export to grid is adjustable across the full 0W to 5500W range, and a split-supply mode lets AC loads run from the grid while critical loads run off-grid, within the combined 5.5kW capacity. A timer charging function schedules AC charging from the grid during low-tariff periods.

Applications

Suited to residential energy storage systems built around Pylontech lithium batteries, including self-consumption setups with higher continuous load demands, on-grid installations with battery backup and export control, and off-grid residential or agricultural single-phase systems.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer. Battery systems must comply with BS EN 62619 and local building regulations, with correct cable sizing, fusing, isolators and earthing in place. Grid connection requires G98 notification or a G99 application. This is not a DIY installation product.
