The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Pro is a pulse-width modulation solar charge controller rated at 20A for 12V and 24V battery systems. It suits small to medium off-grid solar installations where reliable battery charging and load control are needed without the cost of MPPT technology. Installers use it on caravans, boats, cabins and remote power sites.

How the PWM-Pro works

A PWM controller connects the solar panel directly to the battery during bulk charging, then switches the connection on and off rapidly to hold the target voltage. It is a straightforward approach for systems where panel voltage is close to battery voltage. The PWM-Pro adds programmability on top of that, with adjustable charge algorithms and a load output with configurable disconnect thresholds.

Street lighting and automatic detection

The load can be switched on at sunset and off after a set number of hours, or dimmed mid-night, cutting energy use without manual intervention. These settings are configured through the VictronConnect app when paired with the optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle. Battery voltage, 12V or 24V, is detected automatically on first connection.

Installation notes

Fit this controller with a competent electrician or qualified solar installer. Check the panel's open-circuit voltage stays within the controller's maximum input rating. Connect the battery before the solar panel, and disconnect in reverse order. The load output is for DC loads only. On LiFePO4 installations, confirm the correct charge profile in VictronConnect before commissioning. This controller is not for grid-connected systems and does not need G98 or G99 compliance.
