How it works

The controller connects the solar panel directly to the battery once the target voltage is reached, then switches the connection on and off to hold that voltage, reducing current gradually as the battery approaches full charge. This is the standard PWM approach, and it performs best when the panel's nominal voltage matches the battery bank voltage: a 12V panel for a 12V bank, or a 24V configuration for a 24V bank. A load output with low-voltage disconnect protects the battery from deep discharge.
