The Victron BMV-702 is a battery monitor for 12V, 24V and 48V systems, giving a live readout of state of charge, voltage, current, consumed amp-hours, power and time remaining. It suits off-grid solar, marine, motorhome and backup power setups where knowing exactly how much charge is left matters.

Setup and accuracy

Getting an accurate state of charge reading depends on setting the battery capacity and charge efficiency correctly. The BMV-702 lets you adjust these, including the Peukert exponent and charge efficiency factor, so the numbers stay meaningful whatever chemistry you're running. The shunt goes on the negative conductor, with all loads and charge sources wired to its load side; get that wrong and the readings won't mean much.

Applications

Fits off-grid solar arrays, yachts with separate house and starter banks, motorhomes and campervans, backup power systems, and 48V telecom or remote site installations. On a Victron system with a Cerbo GX or Venus GX, its data sits alongside solar yield and inverter status on the same overview screen.
