The Voltacon VMI600 is a 600W single phase grid-tied micro inverter with integrated Wi-Fi monitoring, built for single panel installations. It performs individual maximum power point tracking at module level, which helps recover lost yield when panels are partially shaded or face different directions. It is G98 compliant and ENA registered, making it suitable for UK residential and commercial grid-connected solar systems.

Product overview

A string inverter tracks an entire array as one unit, so shading or soiling on a single panel drags down the whole string's output. The VMI600 tracks each panel on its own MPPT, so one weak panel does not pull down the rest of the array. GaN MOSFET technology is used with no electrolytic capacitors or cooling fans, and a high-frequency transformer provides electrical isolation between the PV input and the AC output. Up to 8 units can be connected per string.

Applications

Suited to residential rooftops with partial shading or mixed panel orientations, building-integrated PV on walls or irregular surfaces, and commercial installations where module-level monitoring is wanted.

Installation and safety

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer. G98 notification to the DNO is required before connection. The VMI600 needs a live grid connection to operate and will not run off-grid or in parallel with off-grid inverters.
