The Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 250/85-Tr VE.Can is a high-voltage Bluetooth-enabled commercial solar charge controller with VE.Can network synchronization, 99% peak efficiency, and ultrafast MPPT tracking for large-scale 12V, 24V, and 48V solar installations requiring extended PV string lengths.

- 250V High PV Input Voltage — Supports a maximum PV open circuit voltage of 250V, enabling longer solar string configurations and reduced wiring costs across large commercial arrays.
- Bluetooth Smart Built-In — Wirelessly set up, monitor, update, and synchronize the controller directly from any Apple or Android smartphone or tablet with no dongle required.
- VE.Can Multi-Controller Synchronization — Up to 25 units can be synchronized via VE.Can and daisy-chained to a Color Control GX for centralized monitoring and coordinated parallel charging.
- Advanced Partial Shading Detection — Proprietary SmartSolar algorithm scans the full power-voltage curve to always lock onto the optimum MPP, even when multiple peaks exist due to partial shading.
- Programmable Relay & Remote On/Off — DPST programmable relay trips on alarms or user-defined events, with a 2-pole remote on/off connector for VE.BUS BMS integration.
The SmartSolar MPPT 250/85-Tr VE.Can supports 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems with automatic voltage detection, delivering 85A of rated charge current and handling up to 1,200W on 12V, 2,400W on 24V, and 4,900W on 48V systems. Its fanless design exceeds 99% peak efficiency with full rated output maintained up to 40°C.
An internal temperature sensor automatically compensates absorption and float charge voltages, while optional external battery voltage and temperature sensing is available via Bluetooth through a Smart Battery Sense or BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor. The optional pluggable SmartSolar LCD display can be added by simply removing the front rubber seal for on-unit monitoring and setup.
Comprehensive protection covers PV reverse polarity, PV reverse current, output short circuit, and over-temperature derating for dependable long-term commercial deployment. The IP43-rated blue enclosure operates up to 5,000m altitude across -30°C to +60°C and meets EN/IEC 62109-1, UL 1741, and CSA C22.2 safety certifications.
