The Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 150/45 is a premium Bluetooth-enabled solar charge controller delivering ultrafast maximum power point tracking, advanced partial shading detection, and fully discharged battery recovery for high-demand 12V, 24V, and 48V off-grid solar installations.
Key Features:
- Bluetooth Smart Built-In — Wirelessly set up, monitor, update, and synchronize the controller directly from a smartphone with no additional hardware or dongle required.
- Advanced Partial Shading Detection — Proprietary BlueSolar algorithm scans the full power-voltage curve to always lock onto the optimum MPP, even when partial shading creates multiple power peaks.
- Fully Discharged Battery Recovery — Initiates charging even when the battery has been fully discharged to zero volts, including reconnection to Li-ion batteries with integrated disconnect functions.
- Eight Pre-Programmed Charge Algorithms — Selectable via rotary switch with full programmability, covering all major battery chemistries for immediate optimized use out of the box.
- 46-Day Stored Trend Data — Onboard data storage captures battery voltage, current, temperature, load output current, PV voltage, and PV current for up to 46 days.
The SmartSolar MPPT 150/45 supports 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems with automatic voltage detection, delivering 45A of rated charge current and handling up to 650W on 12V, 1,300W on 24V, and 2,600W on 48V systems. Its 150V maximum PV open circuit voltage provides broad solar panel array compatibility for mid to large off-grid installations.
An internal temperature sensor automatically compensates absorption and float charge voltages, while optional external battery voltage and temperature sensing is available via Bluetooth through a Smart Battery Sense or BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor. The fanless design exceeds 98% peak efficiency with full rated output maintained up to 40°C.
Comprehensive electronic protection covers PV reverse polarity, PV reverse current, output short circuit, and over-temperature power derating for dependable long-term field performance. The IP43-rated blue enclosure operates across a -30°C to +60°C temperature range and meets international safety certifications including UL 1741 and CSA C22.2.
