The Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A is a Bluetooth-enabled, galvanically isolated DC-DC battery charger delivering 30A of continuous output current at 360W, with a three-stage adaptive charge algorithm, smart alternator compatibility, and unlimited parallel expandability for 12V-to-12V vehicle and marine dual-battery systems.
Key Features:
- Bluetooth Smart Enabled — Monitor output voltage and current, adjust charge settings, and receive firmware updates wirelessly via the VictronConnect app on any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet.
- Galvanic Isolation — 200V DC isolation between input, output, and case fully separates the starter battery from the auxiliary battery, preventing ground loop issues and protecting sensitive electronics in vehicles and vessels.
- Three-Stage Adaptive Charge Algorithm — Automatically adjusts absorption time based on depth of discharge — short absorption for shallow cycles to prevent overcharging, extended absorption after deep discharge for full recovery; fixed 2-hour absorption for lithium batteries.
- Smart Alternator Compatibility — Built-in engine running detection mechanism supports modern variable-voltage and battery-sensing alternators without triggering false charging shutdowns.
- Unlimited Parallel Operation — Any number of units can be connected in parallel to scale output current to any requirement, with all models short-circuit proof and high-temperature protected via automatic output current reduction.
The Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A accepts an input voltage range of 10–17V with under-voltage shutdown at 7V and restart at 7.5V, delivering a nominal 12.2V output adjustable from 10–15V with ±0.2V tolerance and 2mV RMS output noise. Continuous output power is 430W at 25°C and 360W at 40°C, with a peak output of 40A for 10 seconds and a short-circuit output current rating of 60A.
A remote on/off two-pole connector allows integration with ignition switches or relay contacts for automated start/stop control. IP43 protection is achieved when installed with screw terminals oriented downward, with a maximum cable cross-section of 16mm²/AWG6. An internal non-replaceable input fuse is included, and no special tools are required for installation via screw terminals.
