Description

Valor VP11KC-DX: 2,750 lb on every arm, and a 4″ pad that gets under a low car

Capacity on a two-post lift is not really one number, it is four. This lift is rated at 11,000 lb overall and at 2,750 lb per arm - and it is the per-arm figure that governs whether an unevenly loaded vehicle is actually within rating. A crew cab with a full tool bed, a van with a rear-mounted lift, a truck that carries its mass over the back axle: those do not distribute 11,000 lb in four equal shares, and the arm taking the most is the one that decides.

At the other end of the range, the minimum pad height is 4″. Low-profile spin-up pads that start at four inches are what let a sports car with a shallow sill be picked up at all, and stackable adapters are supplied for everything taller. One lift, a low coupe in the morning and a heavy pickup in the afternoon.

Bi-symmetric: what it means and why it is on the box

The arms are bi-symmetric and the configuration is listed as asymmetric/symmetric - meaning you can set the vehicle up either way rather than being locked into one geometry. In symmetric mode the load sits centred between the columns, which suits long, heavy, evenly balanced vehicles. In asymmetric mode the vehicle sits further back with the doors clear of the columns, which is how you get out of a car once it is in the air.

Being able to choose is the practical benefit. Backing it up are three-stage front arms, which telescope through a much wider band of pick-up points than a two-stage arm and are what make short-wheelbase cars and long trucks possible on the same machine.

Arm reach, and a number we are not going to quietly pick

Short arm reach is 23″ to 45″. Long arm reach appears on our specification sheet as 41″ to 59″, and here we owe you a caveat: the manufacturer publishes a slightly shorter maximum for the same arm. Arm reach is what decides whether a given wheelbase can be picked up at its correct manufacturer-specified lift points, so if your vehicles sit near the top of that range, do not take either page's word for it - ask us and we will get the figure confirmed by the manufacturer in writing before you order.

Direct drive pull cylinders and single-piece columns

The lift uses direct drive pull cylinders. Pulling rather than pushing puts the cylinder in tension through the working stroke, which is a favourable way to load a hydraulic ram, and direct drive removes the chain-and-sprocket stage between cylinder and carriage - fewer wear parts in the load path, and one less thing to adjust over the lift's life.

The columns are single-piece. On a lift standing 144″ tall, a column made in one piece rather than bolted together mid-height is a genuinely different structure: there is no joint to check, no fastener set to re-torque, and no discontinuity where the bending moment is highest. Hoses run outside the columns with external hose guards, which keeps them inspectable and replaceable - you can see a hose that is chafing before it lets go.

Will It Fit?

  • Ceiling. The lift stands 144″ overall. Your building has to clear that, plus whatever runs beneath your roof - opener rails, lights, heaters and ductwork. This is the check that fails most often, and it fails after delivery.
  • Floor width. 145-1/2″ overall including the power unit, with 116″ between the columns and 104″ of drive-through clearance.
  • Rise. 71″ maximum at the top of the pad, and 67″ of clearance under the arms - that second figure is your actual standing room.
  • Low cars. 4″ minimum pad height.
  • Power. 220V, 20 Amp, single phase. Unlike a four-post storage lift, this one needs a proper circuit run to it; budget for an electrician if you do not already have 220V at the bay.
  • Concrete. A two-post lift is anchored into the slab and the slab is a load-bearing part of the installation. Our product data states no minimum thickness or compressive strength for this model and we are not going to invent figures for something that holds a vehicle over a technician - get the manufacturer's written requirement from us before you order, and before you pour if the floor is new.

Every one of these is the buyer's check to make. We will talk them through with you, but the measurements and the slab are yours.

Safety features that earn their place

A heavy duty arm restraint system stops the arms rotating out from under a vehicle once it is loaded - the thing that has to not happen on a two-post. A single point lock release drops both columns' locks together from one position, so nobody is walking around a raised vehicle releasing locks one at a time. Rubber door guards protect the door edge of a vehicle parked between columns, which sounds cosmetic until you have explained a dent to a customer.

Perfect For

  • General repair shops that see everything from a low coupe to a three-quarter-ton pickup and cannot dedicate a bay to one geometry.
  • Fleet and commercial workshops where per-arm loading is a real consideration, not a theoretical one.
  • Tyre, brake and suspension work, where clear floor construction means nothing crosses the bay to trip over or work around.
  • Serious home shops with the ceiling for it - and the 144″ figure above is the gate on that.

What is in the Box

From the manufacturer's feature list: the lift with single piece columns and direct drive pull cylinders, three stage front arms, heavy duty arm restraints, rubber door guards, external hose guards, single point lock release, spin up low profile lift pads and stackable adapters included. Our data names no optional accessory kits for this model, so none are listed here - ask us if you need a specific adapter set and we will confirm availability in writing.

Certification, stated honestly

No independent third-party safety listing is claimed for this lift anywhere in our product record, and we are not going to hint at one. On equipment that holds a vehicle above a working technician that is worth resolving before purchase: insurers, fleet operators and some local authorities require a recognised independent listing, and a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity is not that document. Give us the wording you need and we will take it to the manufacturer in writing.

Shipping and delivery

Freight within the lower 48, priced live against your address at checkout rather than estimated in advance. Ship weight is 1,705 lb, arriving as two columns, the overhead assembly, arms and the power unit. Unloading belongs to the receiver - a forklift on site rated for the crate, or a collection booked at the carrier's terminal, which is usually the better plan for anything without a dock. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, added at checkout when you select it. Inspect before you sign: sight each column for straightness and check the arms and overhead beam for impact damage, count the pieces against the manifest, and note anything you find on the bill of lading while the driver is with you, with photographs. Freight damage is not a warranty matter, and a clean signature is the document the carrier will rely on.

Warranty and installation

The manufacturer's limited warranty runs longer on structural components than on parts, with the usual exclusions for wear items and on-site labour. No duration appears in our data for this model, so none is printed here - ask us for the current written terms before you order. Claims are handled at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims.

Two things protect your cover. A two-post lift is anchored equipment whose safety case depends on being installed and commissioned properly, so keep the records. And if something fails, do not touch it: leave the power unit, cylinders, arm restraints and lock mechanism exactly as they are until a claim is open, because a component that has been apart is normally treated as modified. Photograph the fault, note the serial number, stop using the lift and call us.
