Description

iDEAL iMobile MSC-6KLP: a 6,000 lb lift that never touches your floor

Every other lift on this site is a building decision. Anchors, slab thickness, a permanent footprint, an installer. The MSC-6KLP is not: it is a single column on wheels that you push where the work is. Pallet-jack style hydraulics raise the whole machine onto its own rollers, you steer it under the vehicle, set it down and lift. No anchoring, no concrete work, no permanent installation — which makes it the answer for a rented unit, a bay you cannot drill, a mobile service van, or a garage where the lift has to be out of the way by Sunday.

It is rated at 6,000 lbs, it works well on ATVs, side-by-sides, motorcycles and mowers as well as cars, and the whole design is built around getting under something low: the drive-over frame and ramp stand at 3-15/16", so a minimum height under 4" is not marketing, it is the frame you drive over.

How it actually works

The column carries a chain-over cylinder driving an 846 leaf chain, and the arms swing off the base to reach the vehicle's lifting points. There are two ways to get it into position, and both are in the design deliberately. You can roll the lift under the vehicle, which is what the low frame is for; or you can drive the vehicle over the frame, which is easier when the lift points sit inboard and you would otherwise be crawling to find them. The base is low enough that a normal road car clears it.

Once it is where you want it, the hydraulics drop the machine off its rollers and onto the floor, so it lifts from a settled base rather than from wheels. Lowering is a single point lock release. The structural column is a heavy 13" x 10" section, which is a lot of steel for a machine one person moves by hand, and the finish is powder coat.

Will It Fit?

  • Floor. No anchors and no concrete specification — but a mobile lift needs a smooth, level, sound surface to roll on and to stand on. Broken concrete, a slope, a gravel apron or an expansion joint in the wrong place will all cause trouble. This is the one requirement that replaces the slab specification other lifts have.
  • Rise. Lift rise height is 72" — six feet of working room under the vehicle.
  • Ceiling. The column stands 102-3/8" before anything is raised. The manufacturer does publish a minimum ceiling height for this lift and we do not currently carry that figure, so rather than guess at it: if your ceiling, your garage door track or a light fitting is anywhere near the column height, ask us for the number before you order.
  • Footprint. 45-3/16" wide and 101-9/16" long overall — small enough to park against a wall between jobs, which is half the point of it.
  • Arms. Main side swing arms run 19-11/16" to 26"; the off side arms run 24-5/8" to 34". Those ranges are what decide whether the arms reach the lift points on a wide side-by-side or a long car.
  • Pads. Swivel pad height adjusts from 3-7/16" to 6-5/16", and the double-telescoping screw pads add 2-3/4" of adjustment on top of that.
  • Power. A standard single-phase supply — but please read the note below before an electrician sizes the circuit.

Confirming your surface, your ceiling and your circuit is the buyer's responsibility.

Two figures to confirm before you order

Published figures for two of this lift's specifications differ from the manufacturer's own published specification for the same model. Both are set out below, each attributed to its source, so you can plan against the range rather than against a single number.

The electrical supply. The specification table on this page lists this lift at 110VAC, 20 Amp, single phase; Tuxedo publishes a different voltage and, more to the point, a lower amperage. The voltage difference is nominal and changes nothing about what you buy. The amperage is a real circuit-sizing figure, and it is the one that decides what an electrician runs. Confirm the circuit requirement with us in writing before an electrician quotes or runs anything for this lift.

The shipping weight. The figure published on this page is 1,826 lbs; Tuxedo publishes a slightly higher one, and the lower figure is the one in wide circulation across other sellers. The difference is small and changes nothing about how the lift performs — it matters if you are booking equipment to unload it, or deciding whether a terminal collection is realistic. Ask us to confirm the crated weight in writing before you commit to an unloading plan.

Neither figure touches the 6,000 lb rating, the dimensions or anything about how the lift works, and both take one email to settle before you order.

Pads, adapters and the low-profile problem

The reason low-profile lifts are hard is not getting under the car — it is that once you are under it, you have nothing left to lift with. The MSC-6KLP answers that with double-telescoping screw pads: they start flat enough to slide under and then wind up 2-3/4" to meet the lifting point, so the pad does the reaching instead of you shimming it. On top of that come two sets of four height adapters, at 2" and 4", which cover vehicles with deeper sills and machines with a high frame rail. The swing arms are fully adjustable, so pad placement is a matter of setting the arms rather than repositioning the whole lift.

Perfect For

  • Rented or leased workshops where drilling the floor is not permitted.
  • Powersport and small-engine shops — ATVs, side-by-sides, motorcycles and ride-on mowers, which is what the low frame and the arm range suit.
  • Mobile service operations that need a real lift at the customer's site.
  • Multi-purpose garages that need the bay back for something else tomorrow.

What's in the Box

Per the manufacturer's feature list: the mobile single column with its powder coat finish, the drive-over frame and ramp, the chain-over cylinder assembly with 846 leaf chain, the pallet-jack style hydraulics and rollers, fully adjustable swing arms, the double-telescoping screw pads, and two sets of four height adapters (2" and 4"). Nothing else is stated as included, so treat anything not on that list as an extra.

Certification, stated plainly

Our data for the MSC-6KLP does not record a third-party safety listing, and we are not going to imply one by writing round it. The difference is real: a manufacturer's own declaration that a machine meets a standard is a different document from an independent North American lift safety listing issued by an outside body, and some insurers, fleet policies and local inspectors will only accept the second. If any of those apply to you, find out what is actually required and ask us to confirm what this model carries before you buy.

The manual

One housekeeping point, in the same spirit as the section above: the document currently linked from this page is not the MSC-6KLP manual — it belongs to a two-post lift. If you want the manual or the brochure before you buy, ask us for the MSC-6KLP document by model name and we will send the right one.

Shipping and delivery

The MSC-6KLP ships as freight within the lower 48, quoted live at checkout so the price reflects today's rates. It arrives crated and it is heavy, so decide in advance how it comes off the truck: a forklift, a telehandler, or terminal pickup with a suitable trailer. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee, so tell us if the delivery point is a home. Check the crate at the kerb before signing — packaging condition, the count, and any impact damage — and note anything you find on the bill of lading. That note is what a claim rests on later.

Warranty

The manufacturer's warranty applies and the terms in force are published on our warranty claims page. We deliberately do not restate a term length in the description — read the current page rather than a figure copied between listings. And whatever the fault, do not strip a component down before the claim is agreed: photograph it, photograph the serial plate, and speak to us first.
