Its clear-floor overhead design keeps the bay floor between the columns completely open — there is no floor plate or cable trough to step over, so a transmission jack, oil drain, or creeper rolls straight through and you work the underside unobstructed.
A single-point manual release drops both columns together from one lever, and the direct-drive hydraulics raise a full load to working height in about 60 seconds. Twin overhead limit switches stop the carriages at the top of travel, and every unit is factory proof-loaded — a dynamic test at 115% of rated capacity and a static test at 150% — before it ships. Will the SAE-C12X lift my heaviest truck?
Yes — it is rated at 12,000 lbs, which covers full-size three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickups, full-size vans, and SUVs with margin to spare on everyday passenger vehicles. Each lift is proof-load tested at 115% of rated capacity (dynamic) and 150% (static) at the factory.
What concrete does it need?
Stratus specifies a minimum of 6 inches of reinforced concrete (6 to 12 inches recommended) at 3,000 PSI, cured for at least 28 days. The lift anchors with the 16 included 3/4" x 6" bolts, torqued to about 90 ft-lb (no less than 80, no more than 110).
What electrical service does it require?
The 4 HP motor runs on 220V single-phase power on a 30A breaker. The unit ships without a plug — you supply a 220–250V, 30A plug — and the supply is three-wire (green/yellow is ground, the other two are hot). The factory power cord reaches about 11 feet, so plan the disconnect location accordingly. Have a licensed electrician make the connection.
How much overhead clearance do I need?
The lift stands 173 1/4" (about 14 feet 5 inches) at the overhead beam. Confirm your ceiling clears that height plus room for the tallest vehicle you plan to raise.
Is the SAE-C12X ALI or ANSI certified?
Stratus does not list the SAE-C12X as ANSI/ALI ALCTV or ANSI/UL 201 certified, and the manufacturer notes that not all of its lift models meet those standards. The unit is proof-load tested to 115% (dynamic) and 150% (static) of rated capacity. If third-party certification is a requirement for your shop, confirm the current certification status with MGS before ordering.
How does it ship, and can I install it myself?
The SAE-C12X ships by LTL freight, crated at about 2,753 lbs and roughly 112" x 44" x 32". Delivery is to a commercial address or freight terminal; residential and lift-gate delivery may carry additional carrier fees, and the buyer arranges unloading. Installation and electrical hookup are the buyer's responsibility — have a licensed electrician wire the disconnect. Can I adjust the lifting speed?
Yes. The oil-flow valve adjusts travel speed — tightening it (clockwise) slows the lift, loosening it (counter-clockwise) speeds it up.
