The Schwinn Airdyne uses a large fan flywheel as its resistance mechanism. The harder you push the pedals round, the more air is gathered by the fan and the harder the workout becomes. This method really accommodates interval training, so much so that the bikes console provides a range of different interval training programmes. The multi position grab handles allows for an over hand and underhand grip resulting not only in an overall body workout but various upper body muscle groups being engaged. However if you wish you can place your feet on the foot bars at the front of the bike and work the upper body only. The saddle is adjustable both vertically and horizontally thanks to a simple twist lock mechanism. As well as interval training the console also offers plenty of training options including working to set parameters such as calorie burn, target distance and more.
