The specification line that matters most on this box is the shortest one: Combo (Silver & Black). This is not a bulk pack of one finish. It is one roll of each, and if you have ever stuck a bright silver weight to the inside of a gloss-black wheel with open spokes and watched a customer notice it from ten feet away, you already know why that is the feature.

Lead-free, and why the material is the story

Wheel weights used to be lead, and lead is easy to work with: soft, dense, forgiving. It is also being designed out of the trade, and steel is what replaced it. The trade-off is real and worth understanding rather than glossing over — steel is less dense than lead, so a steel weight is physically longer than the lead weight it replaces for the same correction, which is precisely why tape width and segment size matter so much on a steel product.

These are coated for the environment they live in. The inside face of a wheel is one of the harshest places on a vehicle: brake dust, road salt, standing water, wash chemicals, heat cycling from the disc a few inches away. A weight that corrodes loses its adhesive bond long before it loses any mass, and the weight that falls off is the one that generates the comeback.

Segment size is what makes a clean balance possible

Each segment weighs .25 oz. That is the increment you get to work in, and it is the difference between a wheel balanced properly and one balanced approximately. Snap off what the machine calls for, apply it, and the leftover stays on the roll rather than being thrown away — which is how a 1,400-piece box lasts as long as it does.

The tape is 1/2" (13 mm) wide. Narrow tape is not a cost-saving measure; it is a fitment feature. Modern wheels leave very little flat surface on the inner barrel between the rim flange and whatever the brake package intrudes with, and a wide strip that will not lie flat against a curved or interrupted surface is a strip that peels at one end. A narrower tape follows the curve and fits into the gaps a big brake caliper leaves behind.

Working from the roll

Both rolls come in self-dispensing cartons, so the roll stays in its box, out of the dust, and feeds from the side rather than unspooling across the bench. Each carton weighs 11 lbs. (5 kg), which is a useful number when planning shelf space near the balancer — this is dense product and it wants a shelf that can take it, not a hook.

One piece of technique, since nothing in the published data covers surface preparation and it is where most adhesive failures start: the inner barrel must be genuinely clean and dry before the weight goes on. Not wiped with the same rag that did the last wheel — cleaned. Brake dust is abrasive and oily at the same time, and an adhesive backing bonded to a film of it is bonded to the film, not to the wheel.

Orders ship within the contiguous United States, free of charge. A box of this size and weight usually moves as a parcel. If yours turns up on a pallet instead, check the carton before signing for it and write any damage onto the bill of lading in the driver's presence — after a clean signature, a damage claim is a much harder conversation. Worth saying about a consumable specifically: adhesive performance depends on storage and on surface preparation, both of which happen after the product leaves us. Keep the cartons dry and out of direct heat, prepare the wheel properly, and do not re-use a segment whose backing has already been peeled — the adhesive gets one chance to bond.
