Will It Fit?

Four measurements, and the first one is the one that sends jacks back.

• Entry height. The saddle sits 3.75 in (95 mm) off the floor at its lowest. Measure the clearance under your car at the actual lift point with the car loaded as you will use it — a set of sticky tyres, a full tank and an aftermarket ride height can all take that margin away.
• Lift height. The saddle reaches 19 in (487 mm). Set your jack stands against that number, not against the height you would like.
• Reach and footprint. Overall length is 26 in (660.5 mm). The front of the body is 11.33 in (288 mm) across and the rear 12.4 in (315 mm), with the same 12.4 in (315 mm) measured across the side handles. Those widths tell you whether the jack passes between a wheel and a lift column, and the body's rear height of 6.5 in (165 mm) tells you whether it clears a low sill on the way in.
• Surface. Swivel casters and a single-piece front roller need a hard, flat, level floor. On gravel or a sloped driveway no jack of this type is safe, whatever its rating.

Why aluminium, and what it costs you

Aluminium is not a marketing choice, it is a trade. You gain portability and you lose the ballast that a heavy steel jack uses to stay planted. Ranger's answer is to machine the body from billet rather than casting it: billet gives a denser, more consistent structure with fewer internal voids, so the walls can be thinner without becoming the weak point. In use that shows up as a jack with very little play under load — the arm tracks where it is put, and the saddle does not creep across the lift point as the car rises.

The practical honesty is this: a lighter jack has to be positioned more deliberately. It will move if it is shoved. That is a habit, not a defect, and it is the price of a jack you can carry.

The pump, the ram and the valve

A dual-piston pump is the feature you notice within the first ten seconds. Two pistons move more fluid per stroke, so the saddle covers the empty distance between the floor and the car in a few pumps rather than a dozen. On a single lift that is convenience; across a wheel-off day at a track it is the difference between the jack being a tool and the jack being a chore.

The ram is alloy-plated and the hydraulic system is double-sealed. Plating resists the pitting that eventually ruins a ram's seal surface; double sealing keeps brake dust, grit and oil mist out of the fluid. Both are service-life features rather than performance ones, and on a jack that lives in a truck bed and gets used outdoors, they are the ones that matter.

An overload valve sits behind the pump and bleeds off pressure rather than letting the jack be pumped past its rating. A single-piece low-profile front roller helps the whole body track straight as it is pushed under a car, and the oversized knurled aluminium handle gives a grip that stays put with oil on your hands.
