Description
Quincy 5103DS12VCA46 QP Pro - 10 HP, 120 Gallon Vertical, Two-Stage, 460V 3-Phase
Manufacturers rarely put a number on a durability claim, because a number can be checked. Quincy does here: the pressure-lubrication system on this QP Pro is credited with up to 15% longer life than a splash-lubricated compressor. That single figure is the reason this machine exists alongside cheaper two-stage units, and it is worth understanding before you decide whether it is worth the difference to you.
The build behind the claim: a Gerotor positive-displacement oil pump feeding the crankshaft, bearings and rods; a spin-on oil filter; a two-stage cast iron pump with aluminum heads; a 10 HP motor on 460 Volt 3-phase supply; and a 120 gallon vertical receiver rated to 175 PSI. This model is built to order rather than pulled from stock.
Before you order: two model codes in our data
This product is filed in our catalogue under two different codes. The product title, the description heading and the specification block all read 5103DS12VCA46. The web address for the page reads 3103DS12VCA46. We are not going to guess which is the live part number, so both are printed here. Send us the code on your quote or purchase order and we will confirm the exact build with the manufacturer before the unit is made.
What the 15% is measuring, and what it is not
Take the claim at face value and then read it carefully. It is a comparison against a splash-lubricated compressor, and the comparison basis is not published - so treat it as a manufacturer statement about the design, not as a warranted service life for your shop.
The mechanism is straightforward enough that the direction of the claim is credible. In a splash system the crank throws oil around the crankcase and the bearings collect what reaches them. Delivery therefore depends on running speed, on oil level and on the machine sitting level, and it is at its weakest in the first seconds after a start, when the loads are high and the surfaces are still dry. A pressure system removes all three dependencies: the Gerotor pump puts oil where it is needed, at pressure, from the first revolution.
The second half of the benefit is the filter. Oil under pressure can be sent through a spin-on element, so wear particles are removed rather than circulated. A splash crankcase has no way to do that; its oil gets dirtier until you drain it. If you want the 15% rather than merely paying for it, change that filter and that oil on schedule - the claim assumes the maintenance, and the machine gives you a sight glass so you have no excuse for not looking.
Why 460 Volt
The 460 Volt 3-phase build is the one to specify if your building already runs at that voltage - typically a manufacturing plant or a larger industrial unit rather than a strip-unit workshop. Higher supply voltage means less current for the same power, which generally means smaller conductors and a lighter feeder for the same motor.
How much lighter is not something we will guess at. Quincy records the breaker requirement as consult a certified electrician, and that is the right answer: the sizing depends on the length of your run and on local code. Have your electrician confirm the feeder and the disconnect before the order goes in, because this build cannot be rewired to another voltage on delivery day.
Will it fit
A vertical receiver keeps the floor plan tight: about 40 inches by 30 inches, standing around 75 inches tall, 850 lbs. Confirm the ceiling clearance and the height of every doorway, roller shutter and overhead track on the route in. The pad should be level, solid concrete with space around the machine for cooling airflow and for service access. Checking all of that before delivery is the customer responsibility.

Perfect For
- Plants already wired at 460 Volt, where matching the existing service saves a transformer and a headache.
- Operations that run their compressor hard and can point at a previous pump that wore out early.
- Maintenance departments that keep oil and filter records, and will actually collect the benefit the 15% claim assumes.
- Sites short of floor space but not of ceiling height.
Not a home-garage machine. There is no 460 Volt 3-phase service in a house, and the built-to-order arrangement means this is a planned purchase rather than something you collect at the weekend.
What Is In The Box
Built and assembled at the factory: pressure-lubricated two-stage pump, motor, belt drive and guard on the 120 gallon vertical tank, with the Gerotor oil pump, spin-on filter and sight glass in place and the magnetic starter fitted. Warranty documentation is supplied with the machine.
Not supplied: electrical feed, disconnect and overcurrent protection; pipework beyond the 3/4 inch tank outlet; filtration or drying downstream; isolation pads; and the first replacement oil and filter. No aftercooler or air dryer is fitted.
Certification, stated honestly
Quincy records this unit as carrying an ASME tank with UL and CSA marks. Those are findings about the equipment as manufactured. They are not, and are not intended to be, a statement about the installation you are about to build around it.
Your supply conductors, disconnect, protection and ventilation are assessed by your electrician and, where a permit applies, by the inspector who signs it off. If an insurer, a landlord or an authority having jurisdiction requires documentary evidence of the machine certification, ask us before you order and we will obtain it from the manufacturer. Finding the gap at commissioning is the expensive way to learn this.
Shipping and delivery
This machine moves by freight and we ship to the lower 48 states. This item ships free, so there is nothing to add at checkout. Residential delivery carries a residential fee. Commercial addresses with a dock or a forklift are cheaper still, and terminal pickup is cheaper again.
The driver delivers to the kerb. Moving 850 lbs from there is yours to arrange, whether that means a forklift, a dock or collecting from the terminal with the right equipment.
Inspect the shipment before you sign the paperwork. Look at the crate, the tank, the pump and the motor, and write down anything you find on the bill of lading while the driver waits. A signed clean receipt is the single biggest obstacle to a successful freight claim.
Warranty
A 1-year factory warranty is supplied with this model. The Quincy warranty documentation that ships with the machine sets out the coverage and the registration requirement; ask us and we will send it before you buy.
If a fault appears, raise the claim before anything is taken apart. Opening the pump, the motor or the starter first makes a warranty claim very hard to support, however obvious the cause looked. Call us, keep the components, and photograph the condition you found them in.
