This machine lies down. That is the reason it exists as a separate model, and it is the first thing to check against your building: the horizontal receiver brings the whole assembly to about 47" tall, which is low enough to live under a mezzanine, beneath a low garage ceiling, or in a bay where a roller-door track rules out anything upright.
The second thing to check is the supply. This is the 208 Volt, 3-Phase version. Quincy builds the same package for three different three-phase voltages and they are not interchangeable in the field — ordering the wrong one means a motor that will not run correctly on your service, so confirm what is actually at your panel before you buy, not what you assume is there.

Why a horizontal tank changes the job
A lying-down receiver is not a compromise, it is a different answer to a different building. It puts the pump, the belt guard, the oil sight glass and the drain at working height instead of over your head, so the weekly checks stop involving a step ladder. It also spreads the mass over a longer footprint, which is easier on an ordinary slab.
What it costs you is floor. This one occupies roughly 70" by 23", against the much tighter footprint of the upright version of the same machine. If your constraint is floor space rather than headroom, the vertical model is the one to look at. If your ceiling is the problem, this is.
Either way the pad must be flat, solid and level. At 660 lbs on four feet, an uneven floor works the mounts loose over a season and pushes vibration into the building. Levelling the machine is a customer responsibility and it repays the attention many times over.
The pump: two stages, cooled in between
The QT-5 industrial pump is a splash-lubricated, belt-driven, two-stage cast-iron design with an aluminium head. Air is compressed once, run through a high-efficiency finned intercooler, then compressed again — and it is that intercooler that makes the difference you can measure. Cooling the charge between stages is why 175 PSI is a working pressure here rather than a strained maximum, and why carbon does not build up in the head the way it does on a single-stage pump pushed hard.
Quincy quotes the delivered air as 17.2 CFM at 175 PSI. That is a real, published pair — flow means nothing without the pressure it was measured at, and a compressor compared on flow alone is a compressor compared on nothing.
Two build details are worth calling out because they are the ones that decide how the machine ages. The connecting rods are two-piece, which means fewer moving parts to align and a simpler job when the pump is eventually serviced. And the oil reservoir is oversized, which is not about capacity so much as temperature — a larger volume of oil runs cooler and stays in grade longer on a machine that is expected to keep pumping.
Motor and protection
An ODP slow-speed motor drives it. Running a pump at low shaft speed is the least glamorous durability decision on a compressor and one of the most effective: less heat, less wear at the rings and bearings, and noticeably less noise in a room people have to work in.
Protection is factory-fitted rather than something to specify. There is a magnetic starter with thermal overload on the machine when it arrives, low-oil shutdown, and automatic condensate draining, so the routine that most often kills a receiver — nobody remembering to drain it — is handled by the machine rather than by a person.

Certification, stated plainly
The receiver is a coded pressure vessel built to the American pressure-vessel standard, and this product's data records UL and CSA recognition on its electrical components. Those are the two claims the data makes, and both are worth having on a tank that works at 175 PSI.
Neither of them is a third-party safety listing of the assembled machine as installed in your building. That is a separate document, and some insurers and local inspectors ask for it by name on fixed shop equipment. We would rather tell you that plainly than let a badge on the tank stand in for a listing that was never claimed. If it is a condition of your cover or your inspection, ask us before ordering.
Shipping and receiving
It travels as palletised freight to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for your delivery address rather than from an estimate table.
Have the unloading sorted first. The carrier brings the pallet to the back of the truck and that is where their job ends, so a dock, a forklift or a pallet jack on flat ground needs to be there. No equipment on site? Terminal pickup is the answer — collect it from the carrier's yard with whatever you like. A home address counts as residential delivery and carries a residential fee.
Then inspect it in front of the driver. Anything written on the bill of lading before you sign is claimable; anything discovered after a clean signature generally is not. Take photographs of the pallet and the crate, and write down what you see even if the damage looks cosmetic.
Warranty
The unit carries a 1-Year factory warranty which extends to Quincy's 3-Year "No Bull" warranty. That extension is conditional on Quincy's own terms rather than automatic, so read the warranty handbook linked on this page and confirm what applies to this model before you count on the longer period.
And whatever cover you have, do not take the pump apart to diagnose it. A disassembled pump cannot be assessed for what failed first, and a claim on one is a much harder case to make. Call us, describe the symptom, and let it be looked at whole.
