The Oase 42 W UVC lamp is the direct-fit replacement ultraviolet bulb for the FiltoClear 5200 pressure filter. UV lamps lose germicidal effectiveness over time even when they still appear to glow — replacing the bulb annually ensures the filter continues to kill algae spores and waterborne pathogens effectively.
Annual Replacement is Essential
UV output degrades to below effective levels after approximately 8,000–9,000 hours of operation — roughly one full pond season. A lamp that appears lit may only be producing a fraction of its original UV intensity. Replacing the bulb each spring, alongside the quartz sleeve, is the most reliable way to prevent green water.

Installation
