This ballast delivers the precise electrical characteristics that the 60 W lamp needs for maximum germicidal effect against algae and pathogens in large pond systems. Ballast failure is the most common reason a UV lamp stops working after a bulb change.
Critical for Large Pond Clarity
The FiltoClear 8200 serves ponds where water volume and organic load are highest, making UV performance essential. A failing ballast may still light the lamp at reduced intensity — enough to appear functional but not enough to kill algae spores effectively. If green water returns shortly after installing a new bulb, replace the ballast.
