If desired the BioStyle Filters can be optimised to suit different aquarium needs through the use of different filter media booster cartridges. These cartridges fit easily into the BioStyle Filter, in place of the biological filter foam. The quantity of cartridges the filter chamber can hold depends on the size of the BioStyle Filter.
The BioStyle Carbon Booster Cartridge contains high quality activated carbon ideal for aiding in the removal of cloudy water, harmful metals, odours and tannins resulting in clean and clear aquarium water. When processed activated carbon features small, low-volume pores designed to increase the surface area available for absorption of unwanted substances. We recommend that carbon only be used when needed and replaced after 3 to 4 weeks, dependant upon aquarium size, fish and plant density and any noticeable decline in filter performance.
