The BioTec ScreenMatic 2 38000 is a multi-stage mechanical and biological filtration system in a compact package, designed for ponds with biological load (some fish).

During biological filtration, the water is channeled through a series of filter foams that create a special environment by allowing the settling of beneficial bacteria. During this stage, harmful ammonia and nitrites are converted to nitrates, which support plant life in the pond.

BioTec filters feature a built-in cleaning mechanism that does not require removal of the filter foams during maintenance. In addition, BioTec 18000 and 38000 also feature an automatic debris screen ("Screenmatic") which selfcleans at regular intervals. Coarse debris above 300 microns is removed and cannot clog the filter foams.

• Distinct Filter Zones BioTec filters feature distinct zones that promote the settlement of the beneficial bacteria  responsible for different phases of the nitrogen cycle, increasing the conversion of harmful ammonia in the pond.
• Automatic Debris Separation: The debris screen in the BioTec 18000 and 38000 separates coarse debris and self-cleanes at regular intervals. Collected debris is deposited in a tray for easy removal during maintenance. This increases filtration capacity and effectiveness.
• PhosLess Algae Reducer PhosLess Modules can be added into the filter (BioTec 18000 and 38000) or into the pond to reduce algae growth in the pond by trapping phosphate.
