Description
MorningStar RD-1 Relay Driver with Auto GenStart Function
This innovative versatile-application Morningstar Relay Driver is a highly flexible and fully programmable logic relay module, capable of switching appliances on/off or sending signals and generating alarms when a predefined event occurs.
A truly versatile product, this relay driver can be used in a wide range of applications and scenarios, such as:
- Monitoring battery voltage: When the battery is full, excess solar energy can be directed to power a fridge or water heater.
- Monitoring battery voltage: When the battery is too low, the driver can start a generator or mains battery charger to top it up or disconnect any loads (low voltage disconnect).
- Performing staged low voltage disconnect: Ensures the most critical loads stay on for longer.
- In a wind power system: Diverts wind turbine power to a dump load when the battery is full.
- Enhancing wind turbine efficiency: Routes output through a voltage boost converter at low RPMs but uses the output directly at high RPMs.
- Activating cooling or battery fans based on temperature.
- Controlling motion sensors.
- Controlling water level pumps.
- Managing pressure release valves.
- Controlling space heating or cooling.
The built-in GenStart function offers advanced generator control with up to three channels, programmed to start a generator based on specific events. While it functions as a standard on/off dry contact generator control for small, simple generators, in this mode, the relay driver can also manage advanced generators with a 3-wire control system. In such setups, the driver generates various signals required by the generator, such as: Run, Pre-crank (Pre-Heat), Crank (Momentary Run), Load, Stop, etc., each with different durations, sequences, and delays relative to each other.
