Description
Katool X90E: an 8,000 lb mid-rise scissor lift with a 24V control circuit
The detail worth knowing about the X90E before anything else is that the controls run at 24V and the safety release is electric. On a lot of mid-rise scissor lifts the lock is a mechanical latch that somebody has to reach in and pull, often while crouched beside a loaded platform, and the descent begins the moment it lets go. Here the release is a control input: the operator stands clear, the lift comes off the locks under power, and the descent is a controlled movement rather than a released one. The mains supply stays in the power unit; what is under your hand is low voltage.
Around that sits a straightforward, capable machine — 8,000 lbs (3,629 kg) of capacity, 47 in (1,200 mm) of rise, a full cycle to the top in roughly 30 seconds, and a standard 110V supply. It is the lift for a shop or a home garage that needs real height under a car for brakes, suspension, exhaust and wheels, without the ceiling and the anchoring commitment a two-post installation demands.
Will It Fit?
A mid-rise scissor asks less of a building than a two-post lift does, but it still has to suit your vehicle and your floor. Check these against what you actually own.
- Height range. It rises to 47 in (1,200 mm) and closes down to 4.3 in (110 mm). The low figure is the one people forget: at 4.3 in, a sports car with a front lip can be driven or rolled onto the platforms rather than jacked onto them.
- Platform size. Each runway is 81.5 in (2,070 mm) long and 20.1 in (510 mm) wide, with 32.2 in (820 mm) between them. Those three numbers, not the capacity, decide whether your vehicle's lift points land where they should — measure the pinch-weld spacing on the car you care about most and compare.
- Ceiling. With 47 in of rise, the ceiling only has to clear your vehicle's height plus that lift. A standard domestic garage generally has room, which is exactly why mid-rise exists.
- Floor. Flat, sound, level concrete under the whole footprint. This is a load concentrated on a small area, so a cracked slab, an expansion joint or a patched section under the lift is a problem to solve before delivery, not after. Confirming your floor is suitable is the customer's responsibility; the installation manual is the reference and we can send it before you buy.
- Power. 110V (30A), or 220V if that is what your bay has. No three-phase supply, no transformer, no special panel work in most garages.
Why the electric release and the 24V circuit matter
Two separate ideas sit behind that one feature, and they are worth separating.
The first is control. An electric safety release lets the lift come down smoothly and at a governed rate, with the operator standing where they can see the whole vehicle. A mechanical latch that is pulled by hand puts a person beside a loaded platform at the moment it starts to move, and gives them no way to modulate what happens next.
The second is voltage. Running the control system at 24V means the buttons, the limit switch and the wiring the operator touches are low voltage, while the mains stays inside the power unit. In a workshop where the floor is regularly wet with coolant, brake cleaner or melted snow off a car, that is a meaningful reduction in what can go wrong. The lift also carries a height limit switch, so the platform stops at full extension rather than relying on somebody releasing the button at the right moment.
Built for the way a busy bay actually works
The lift is a drive-up design: the vehicle is positioned onto the runways rather than jacked up to meet them, which is what makes it viable for quick jobs where a two-post lift would be more setup than the work is worth. A roughly 30-second cycle to full height means that on a tyre rotation or a brake inspection, the lift is not the slow part of the job.
Composite rubber lifting blocks sit between the steel and the vehicle so the contact points are rubber on the sill rather than metal on paint. Self-lubricating bushings and bearings at the pivots reduce the routine greasing a scissor mechanism would otherwise need — a scissor has a lot of pivots, and the maintenance saving is proportional. The specified hydraulic oil is AW-46, or AW-32 if the lift lives somewhere cold enough that the heavier grade would thicken; the rated oil pressure is 20 MPa. That is the kind of detail that decides whether the first service is easy or a phone call.
Perfect For
- Home garages where a full-height two-post lift will not fit the ceiling, but crawling under a jacked car has stopped being acceptable.
- Tyre, brake and suspension work in a professional shop, as a fast bay alongside the main lifts.
- Fleet and detailing operations that need a vehicle up quickly and often, rather than up high for hours.
- Enthusiasts with low cars, where the 4.3 in closed height is the feature that makes the lift usable at all.
What's in the Box
- Scissor lift with both platforms and the hydraulic power unit
- 24V control system with electric safety release and height limit switch
- Composite rubber lifting blocks
- Installation instructions and the components listed for setup
Hydraulic oil, electrical supply work and any floor preparation are not part of the shipment. Fill with AW-46, or with AW-32 where winters are cold.

Certification, stated plainly
Katool states that the X90E meets CE safety certification standards. CE is a European conformity marking, which the manufacturer applies on the strength of its own declaration that the product complies with the relevant European directives. It is not the same thing as a North American third-party lift safety listing, where an independent body examines and lists the product, and it should not be read as one. For a home garage that distinction is usually academic. For a commercial insurer, a fleet policy or a local jurisdiction that names the third-party listing in its requirements, it is not — so check what applies to you before you order rather than after.
Shipping and delivery
The X90E ships freight to the lower 48 states, with the rate calculated live at checkout for the address you enter. It is a compact lift by the standards of this catalogue but it is still a crated machine on a truck, and unloading is the receiver's responsibility: have a forklift available, or choose terminal pickup and let the carrier's depot load it onto your trailer. If the address is residential, a residential fee applies and appears at checkout with the freight.
Inspect on arrival, with the driver present. Look for crush damage to the crate, broken strapping, oil where oil should not be, and anything suggesting the load moved. Note it on the bill of lading and photograph it before you sign — a clean signature closes the door on a damage claim.
Warranty
Katool publishes a written warranty document for this lift; ask and we will send you the current copy before you buy. One thing to avoid whatever the terms turn out to be: do not open the power unit, the cylinder or the control box before a claim has been raised. Once a component has been dismantled it is treated as modified, and a straightforward replacement turns into an argument nobody wins. Photograph the fault, note the serial number and call us first.
