Description

Katool Tire Changer KT-T835 & Wheel Balancer KT-B750 Combo

Katool KT-T835 and KT-B750: 13 in to 28 in of clamping in one turntable

Wheel diameter is the number every tyre changer advertises. Clamping range is the number that decides what the machine can actually hold, and the KT-T835 covers an unusually broad span of it: 13 in to 26 in gripping from the outside of the rim, and 14 in to 28 in gripping from the inside. That envelope is why one machine can take a small steel spare in the morning and a 26 in alloy off a modern truck in the afternoon without anybody adjusting anything but a pedal.

It arrives paired with the KT-B750 wheel balancer, so the mounting and the balancing halves of a tyre job are bought, delivered and set up together. Between them they take wheels up to 41 in (1,040 mm) in diameter and 15 in (350 mm) wide on the changer, and balance to ±1 gram on the balancer.

Why clamping range matters more than the headline diameter

A wheel-clamp changer holds the rim in jaws that either push outward against the inside of the rim or pull inward on its outer edge. Which method you use depends on the wheel: a deep-dish alloy with a delicate outer lip is clamped from the inside, a plain steel wheel from the outside, and a wheel whose face carries the finish you must not touch leaves you no choice at all.

A machine with a narrow range forces the wrong choice, and the wrong choice is where rims get marked. The KT-T835's two ranges overlap across the sizes a general shop sees most, so the technician picks the method that suits the wheel rather than the method the machine allows. That is a workflow property, not a specification, and it is the one you feel on the tenth wheel of the day.

Mass is a feature on a tyre changer

The KT-T835 weighs 582 lbs. That is not incidental. Breaking a bead is a large force applied off-centre, and everything the machine does not absorb in its own mass ends up as movement — the machine walking, the wheel shifting in the jaws, the head wandering off the rim edge. A heavy, properly anchored changer simply stands there and lets the cylinder do the work.

The same logic runs through the balancer, where it matters even more because the machine is measuring movement. Its body is 3 mm steel, welded rather than fastened, and the pressure sensor sits on an integrated support with 8 mm bottom and side boards. Any flex in that structure is read as imbalance in the wheel, so the stiffness is not about durability — it is about whether the reading is true. The 36 mm shaft thread is quenched, which is the single component every wheel you ever balance hangs on.

Living with the KT-B750

The balancer spins at 180 rpm and returns a measurement in about 7 seconds, to an accuracy of ±1 gram. It handles rims up to 30 in, wheel assemblies up to 880 mm across, centre bores to 135 mm and wheel weights to 65 kg. The automatic measurement ruler enters the A and D values directly instead of asking a technician to measure, read and key them — the step where most bad balances are actually created.

One figure we will not choose for you: the balancer's wheel-width capacity is quoted two ways in Katool's data for this combination, as 3 to 12 inches in the description and as 15 in in the spec table. Those cannot both be right, so both appear here. If wide wheels are the reason this pairing is on your shortlist, ask us and we will confirm it against the machine before you order.

Beyond that it carries several balance modes for different rim constructions, switches between ounces and grams and between millimetres and inches, and runs built-in fault diagnosis with double-sided self-calibration, so the machine can be checked and re-zeroed without a service call. A longer shaft accommodates wider wheels, and a wheel guard is available.

Power, air and installation

  • Changer: 2.0 HP motor with pure copper windings, 110V single phase at 60 Hz. Compressed air, regulated, up to 145 PSI.
  • Balancer: 0.25 kW motor on 120V single phase.
  • Bead breaker: 186 mm stainless cylinder, driven from the same air supply.
  • Floor: level concrete, with the changer anchored as the manual specifies and enough clear space to roll a large wheel around the turntable rather than lift it over the machine.

Both machines run on ordinary single-phase supplies. Note that the two are quoted at slightly different nominal voltages, so plan a socket for each rather than assuming one shared circuit will do.

Perfect For

  • General repair shops bringing tyre work back in-house instead of sending wheels out.
  • Independent tyre shops covering everything from small steel wheels to large modern alloys on one turntable.
  • Truck and SUV specialists, where the 28 in inside clamping range is the spec that decides it.
  • Shops replacing two worn-out machines and wanting a changer and balancer that were specified as a pair.

Certification, stated plainly

Nothing in Katool's published data for either of these machines names a third-party certification or listing, so this page does not claim one. On tyre-service equipment that is a much smaller issue than it is on a vehicle lift, where a person works beneath a raised load — but if your insurer or your employer's safety policy asks for documentation on workshop machinery, ask us before ordering and we will find out precisely what exists for these two units instead of guessing in public.

Shipping and delivery

Two crated machines, shipped as freight inside the lower 48 states, with the rate pulled from the carrier at checkout for your address. The important planning point is unloading: freight arrives on a trailer and the receiver is responsible for getting the crates down. At 582 lbs the changer is beyond a couple of people and a ramp. If a forklift is not on site, take terminal pickup — the carrier's depot loads you and you collect when it suits. Residential addresses carry a residential fee, shown at checkout when that option is selected.

Do the inspection at the tailgate, not in the workshop the next morning. Broken banding, a crate corner that has been crushed, a machine leaning on its pallet — note it on the bill of lading with the driver watching and photograph it. Signing clean tells the carrier the freight arrived intact, and unpicking that afterwards is rarely worth the effort it takes.

Warranty

There is a written Katool warranty document covering this equipment, and we will send you the current version before purchase if the terms will affect your decision. Whatever it covers, protect the claim: do not open a cylinder, valve or control board before the claim is raised. A dismantled part is a modified part as far as any warranty department is concerned. Photograph the fault, take the serial numbers off both machines and speak to us first.
