The EMAX 10 HP rotary screw air compressor is a complete shop-air package: a continuous-duty oil-injected rotary screw airend, an integrated refrigerated air dryer, and a 120-gallon horizontal receiver tank, finished in matte black and pre-plumbed on a single base. It runs on 208–230V three-phase power and is built for shops and light-industrial operations that need steady, dry compressed air through long run cycles rather than the start-stop bursts a piston compressor is designed for.

Unlike a reciprocating pump that compresses air in strokes, the rotary screw airend uses meshing male and female rotors to produce continuous, steady airflow. It is rated for a 100% duty cycle, so it can run through long, sustained cycles instead of needing cool-down periods, and it delivers up to 145 PSI maximum pressure. EMAX rates the airend for an estimated 60,000-hour service life.

Because the airend feeds an integrated refrigerated dryer rated for 58 CFM, the air reaching your tools and lines is dried at the source — removing the moisture that causes rust in receiver tanks, water in air lines, and finish problems in paint and media work. A swing-arm dryer mount lets the dryer hinge away from the cabinet so the unit can be serviced without disassembling the package, and a dual-timer automatic drain clears condensate from the tank on a schedule you set.

Every unit is backed by EMAX's standard one-year parts-and-labor warranty, with extended and limited-lifetime coverage available through EMAX's SMART OIL maintenance program (see Warranty below).

Rotary screw airend

The oil-injected rotary screw airend compresses air continuously rather than in strokes, producing the steady airflow that high-demand shop and industrial work depends on. It is engineered for up to a 100% duty cycle and runs relatively quietly compared with a piston pump.

Multi-belt drive

Power transfers through a multi-belt drive that uses wider B- and C-width belts instead of a single narrow belt. The added belt surface area improves grip and lowers belt tension, which reduces strain on the motor and compressor bearings and keeps noise and vibration down for longer belt and system life.

Swing-arm dryer mount

The refrigerated dryer is mounted on a swing arm that hinges away from the compressor cabinet, opening up room around the airend and components for maintenance. EMAX offers this swing-arm mount across its 5 HP–20 HP package models.

Dual-timer automatic drain

An electric dual-timer auto drain expels moisture and water from the receiver tank automatically. The interval is adjustable from 1 to 45 minutes between cycles, and you can set how long the drain stays open. An air muffler is included for quieter discharge.

Cooling fan and split-bar radiator

A split-bar radiator and circulating fan cool both the compressor oil and the compressed air on its way to the tank, reducing wear and pulling excess moisture out of the air system. The refrigerated dryer carries its own condenser fan that circulates ambient air through the condenser coil to cool the refrigerant.

Warranty

EMAX backs the rotary screw compressor and the refrigerated dryer with separate warranties, each beginning on the date of delivery.

Rotary screw compressor

The standard warranty covers the rotary screw pump and all components, including the electric motor, against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year, and includes one year of warranty labor from an authorized technician. Ground freight on warranty parts is covered for the first 180 days.

Through EMAX's SMART OIL maintenance program, coverage can be extended to 10 years on the rotary screw pump and the three-phase motor (5 years on a single-phase motor), with all other components covered for 5 years. Enrolling in the SMART OIL auto-ship program extends the pump to a limited lifetime warranty that is not prorated and has no hour limit. Extended and lifetime coverage require following EMAX's scheduled oil and filter changes using EMAX SMART OIL.

Refrigerated dryer

The air dryer carries a 1-year warranty on materials, workmanship, and parts, including one year of warranty labor, extendable to 3 years with registration and EMAX's scheduled dryer-filter maintenance.

What electrical service does it need?

The compressor runs on 208–230V three-phase power. It draws 28.8 amps at full load (with a 1.15 service factor), and EMAX specifies a 40-amp circuit breaker. Locked-rotor (peak starting) current is 171 amps.

Does it dry the air?

Yes. An integrated refrigerated air dryer rated for 58 CFM removes moisture from the compressed air before it reaches your lines, protecting tools, tanks, and finishes from water damage.

Can it run continuously?

The rotary screw airend is rated for a 100% duty cycle, so it can run through long, sustained cycles without the cool-down periods a piston compressor needs.

Where should it be installed?

EMAX requires a clean, well-ventilated location with ambient temperature below 100°F, kept away from fine dust such as granite, marble, or concrete dust. Installing it in an unventilated or dusty space voids the warranty.

What maintenance does it need?

The factory break-in oil and filters should be changed at 600 hours. After that, oil and filters are changed annually or every 4,000 hours, whichever comes first, using EMAX SMART OIL. The recommended service kit is part number SKIT001AWB.
