Most shops choose a bridge jack by asking whether it will lift the car in front of them. The better question is whether it will still be the strongest thing in the bay in five years, when the vehicle list has drifted heavier and somebody reaches for it without thinking. The RJ15 is rated at 15,000 lbs — a figure that sits at the top of the four-post range rather than just above the average vehicle — and that headroom is the point of the model.

Capacity headroom is a safety margin, not a boast

A jack running near its limit is a jack whose seals, saddle and structure are all working hard on an ordinary day. Specify one with real margin and every lift it does is an easy one. That matters more on an accessory than on the lift itself, because the lift gets treated with respect and the jack gets grabbed in a hurry.

The practical reading of 15,000 lbs is this: on a four-post rated at or below that figure, the jack is not what limits you. Nobody has to stop and work out whether this particular vehicle is the one that is too heavy for the accessory, which is precisely the calculation that gets skipped when a bay is busy.

Two hands on the control, by design

Raising and lowering requires both hands. Read that as an interlock rather than an inconvenience. While both hands are occupied, neither is near a saddle, a frame rail or a pinch point, and the operator has to be standing in a position where the load is visible. A one-hand control invites the other hand to go and steady something — and steadying something under a rising vehicle is how people get hurt.

It is the sort of feature that reads as a footnote on a specification sheet and is the reason a shop's safety record stays boring. Boring is the goal.

Out of the way when you are done

Bridge jacks spend most of their life not lifting, and a jack parked badly makes a four-post worse than it was. The RJ15 is low-profile with adjustable heights, so it drops out of the working area between the runways when it is not carrying a load. The runways stay usable, a creeper still goes where it needs to go, and nothing has to be lifted off and stood in a corner.

Because it rolls on the lift's accessory rails, it is also always in the bay and always to hand. Equipment that has to be fetched is equipment that gets skipped, and a skipped bridge jack means somebody working around a wheel that should have been off the ground.

What it actually replaces

The alternative is a bottle jack or a trolley jack pushed under a vehicle that is already several feet in the air. Everything about that is awkward: the reach, the angle, the pumping, and the fact that you are working under a load supported by something you positioned by eye from an uncomfortable posture. Adapters supplied with the RJ15 are there so you can reach the manufacturer's pick-up points properly instead of settling for whatever the jack happens to touch first.

Certification, said plainly

The information we hold on this jack records no safety listing, and we would rather write that down than leave a gap for you to fill in optimistically. There is a real difference between equipment tested and listed by an independent laboratory and equipment covered by a manufacturer's own declaration, and our data claims neither for this part. Insurers, fleet operators and some local authorities do set requirements about listed lifting equipment. Shipping and delivery

This item travels as freight inside the lower 48 states and is priced at checkout against the address you enter, live, rather than from a fixed table. Getting it off the truck is down to you: have a forklift or a dock ready, or arrange to collect it from the carrier's terminal. Residential addresses are handled as a separate delivery service and attract a residential fee.

Do not sign until you have looked. Check the saddle assembly, the hydraulic unit and the crate itself for impact damage, and write anything you see onto the paperwork with the driver standing there. A signature against a clean delivery note is very difficult to walk back.

Warranty

Photograph it in position, stop using it, and speak to us first. A hydraulic assembly that has already been opened cannot be assessed, and that single mistake stalls more legitimate claims than any fault ever does.
