Description

Challenger Lifts AR4115XAX: the closed-front long rack, squared off front and rear

Choosing between an open and a closed front on a 15,000 lb four-post is not a styling decision, and the AR4115XAX shows why in its own numbers. On the open-front models in this family the sheet carries two figures for the same measurement — one for the front pair of columns and one for the rear. On the XAX there is one inside-column dimension, 125.5", and one column height, 98", front and rear alike.

That is the closed front doing its job. Tying the front columns together with structure makes the rack symmetrical, which is why the geometry reads as a single set of numbers instead of two, and it is the reason a closed-front rack tends to be the more rigid platform of the two.

This is the long version of that rack: 275.5" overall, 223.375" between the columns, and a 210.5" maximum wheelbase, with 26" runways and 78" of rise.

The UHMW slide block, and why a wear part gets a paragraph

Inside each column, the carriage rides on slide blocks. They are the component that determines whether a lift feels smooth at year eight or notchy and noisy, and Challenger specifies a UHMW slide block that is internally encapsulated rather than exposed.

Two things are going on. Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene is chosen because it is self-lubricating and abrasion-resistant, so it does not need greasing and it does not chew the inside of a steel column the way a harder material would. Encapsulating it internally keeps the shop's grit, weld spatter and wash water off the sliding face — and contamination, not load, is what usually kills a slide block. The practical result is a carriage that keeps running quietly without a maintenance ritual, which on a lift used many times a day is the difference between a wear part and a recurring job.

The rest of the structure is finished to match: an enclosed front column and crossbeam design that hides the hardware and keeps the bay looking tidy, and louvered approach ramps whose formed edges bite a tyre better than tread patterns that flatten with age.

Will It Fit?

The published minimum recommended bay is 14' x 26' — the 26' is the cost of the long rack, and it is the number to test against your building first.

  • Overall. 275.5" long, 142" wide.
  • Between columns. 223.375".
  • Inside columns. 125.5", stated once for front and rear.
  • Column height. 98". Unlike the open-front sheets, there is no second, rounded figure competing with it here — plan to this number.
  • Runways. 26" wide, 7" tall, 40.625" apart.
  • Rise. 78", in around 85 seconds.
  • Alignment. Two-wheel to 195.25"; four-wheel from 68" to 158".
  • Services. 2HP motor on 208V-230V, 60Hz, 1Ph; 90 to 120 psi of shop air.

Slab thickness and concrete strength are not recorded in the specification data we hold for this model. Rather than repeat a number from a different lift, we would rather send you the installation drawing and have your floor assessed properly. Verifying the slab, the ceiling clearance and the electrical supply before delivery is the buyer's responsibility, and it is much easier to do while the lift is still a quote.

Perfect For

  • Alignment bays handling long-wheelbase vehicles up to 210.5" where a rigid, symmetrical rack matters more than open front access.
  • Busy general service shops where the lift is in use all day and the slide blocks are doing real cycles.
  • Customer-facing workshops that want the enclosed column and crossbeam finish rather than exposed hardware.
  • Shops with imaging alignment systems, which this rack is stated to be compatible with.

What ships with it

Columns, 26" runways, the lifting and locking assembly with 17 locking positions, power unit and louvered approach ramps.

The alignment kit is optional — the manufacturer describes it as rolling jacks, an internal airline system and stainless steel turn plates — and is not part of this listing. One point of difference worth flagging: this configuration's sheet marks the galvanized upgrade as not applicable, where the open-front sheets in the family carry a part number for it. If a galvanized deck is something you want, talk to us before ordering rather than assuming it can be added later.

Certification, plainly

This model is recorded on its specification sheet as ALI/ETL certified. The practical use of that is narrow: a third-party lift safety listing is what an insurer, a corporate safety policy or a municipal inspector asks for in writing, and holding one closes the question.

Defining the requirement is still your side of the job. Send us the exact wording and we will confirm it against current documentation for this configuration before you order.

Shipping and delivery

This lift ships as freight to the lower 48 states, free of charge.

Work out the unload before the shipment is booked. Freight is delivered to the kerb and taking it off the trailer is the receiver's responsibility, so either a forklift or telehandler rated for the crate needs to be waiting, or you arrange collection from the carrier's local terminal — often the easier route for a shop without its own handling equipment. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee, which is applied at checkout when that option is chosen.

Check the freight before signing for it. Count the crates against the packing list, walk the load with the driver, and note anything at all on the bill of lading — scuffed paint, split banding, a corner that has taken a knock. Once a clean bill of lading is signed the carrier's exposure ends, and a claim opened the next day rarely goes anywhere.

Warranty

Warranty is administered by Challenger. The specification data behind this listing records a warranty reference rather than a stated duration, and we are not going to print a term we cannot verify. Ask us and we will confirm the terms currently applying to your configuration, or read our warranty claims page.

Whatever the term proves to be, one rule saves claims: leave the failed part alone. A power unit or cylinder that has already been opened is very hard for anyone to adjudicate, and disassembly is the single most common reason a covered failure turns into an argument. Photograph it in place and call us first.
