Atlas 111,000 lbs ALI Certified Battery Powered Mobile Column Lift System

This is heavy vehicle lifting with no bay attached to it. Each Maxima column runs on its own batteries through a 2.2 Kw 24V DC motor, and each one sits on an integrated hydraulic pallet jack — so a column is moved the way a pallet is moved, by one person, without a cable trailing behind it or an anchor in the floor. Total system capacity is 111,000 lbs, at 18,500 lbs per column.

That combination is the point. A set of mobile columns can go to the vehicle instead of the vehicle coming to the lift, it can be pushed out of the way when the job is finished, and Atlas states the columns may even be taken outside and used on level concrete with a minimum thickness of six inches. Nothing bolted into a bay does any of that.

Published figures for this system do not describe a consistent column count, and on a purchase of this size that is worth settling before you order.

All three are printed here rather than reduced to the one that looks most likely, because the difference between a four-column set and a six-column set is not a detail. Confirm the exact configuration with us before ordering and we will get it from Atlas in writing.

Why battery power changes the job

A corded column has to be near a supply, and a set of corded columns has to be near several. That constraint quietly decides where heavy vehicles get lifted — usually the one bay with the right outlets, which is usually the bay somebody else is already using.

Each column here carries two batteries and runs on DC. Atlas states a charge lasts 10-20 lifts depending on load, and the columns recharge from an attached 110V single phase cord — an ordinary supply, not a special one. Between charges there is no cable across the floor to trip over, drive over or route around a vehicle already in position. The hydraulic pallet jack under each column is the other half of it: columns weigh 1,700 lbs each, and the pallet jack is what makes that weight movable by hand rather than by machine.

Synchronisation, and the two independent ways it holds

Lifting one vehicle on several separate columns only works if the columns stay together. All columns operate simultaneously under an electronic system that keeps them synchronised, and every column carries an LCD screen showing its exact lifting height — so synchronisation is not something you take on trust, it is something you read off the columns as the vehicle goes up.

The load is held two independent ways: hydraulic flow control and mechanical locks. Those are different kinds of thing, which is the whole idea — a hydraulic fault does not defeat a mechanical lock and a mechanical fault does not defeat flow control. Every column also carries its own emergency stop, so whichever column a technician is standing at is the one they can stop the system from.

Forks that fit a mixed fleet

The forks adjust to take tire diameters from 19 inches to 44 inches, which is what makes a set of columns a fleet tool rather than a single-vehicle tool: the same columns go under a delivery van and under a heavy truck without a change of hardware.

For wheel service, where the wheels come off once the vehicle is up, optional Maxima Tripod Support Stands can be used to support the vehicle. They are an accessory rather than part of the set — worth pricing at the same time if wheel work is why you are buying.

Where it can stand

Mobile columns do not need anchoring, but they do need a surface that will carry them. Atlas specifies level concrete with a minimum thickness of six inches, including outdoors. Level is doing as much work in that sentence as thickness: columns synchronise with each other electronically, not with the ground, and a slope or a settled section puts the vehicle out of plane no matter what the screens say.

Note the overall height of 145" (12' 1"), not the 67" (5' 7") maximum lifting height, is the figure that decides whether the columns clear your roller door, your beams and your building services — and they move in and out of the building at a resting height of 88 1/2" (7' 4 1/2"). Measure both.

Certification

This system is ALI certified, which for a mobile column set is the certification most fleet operations, insurers and jurisdictions are actually asking about. If you have been quoted equipment that is certified to other standards and were unsure whether it would satisfy your requirements, this is the model that removes the question. Ask us and we will supply the documentation.

Shipping and delivery

This product drop ships from the manufacturer. That matters to how you plan: it does not route through one of our warehouses, so warehouse pickup does not apply in the usual way and lead time is Atlas's rather than ours. Ask us for the current position before you commit to an installation date.

It ships as freight to the lower 48 at a published shipping weight of 10,200 lbs, with the carrier charge calculated live against your delivery address during checkout. At that weight you must be able to take the shipment off the truck yourself — a forklift or telehandler rated for the column weight of 1,700 lbs each, and the people to do it safely — or arrange terminal pickup instead. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee.

Inspect before you sign. Check every column and crate for transit damage, count the connecting cables, and write anything you find onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there. A note on the BOL at the door is what a freight claim is built on; a clean signature followed by a phone call the next day is not.

Warranty

The system carries a 2 Year Limited warranty. Batteries and DC drive systems are the components most likely to raise a question over that period, so keep the charging routine the manual specifies from day one — a battery run flat and left is a battery whose failure is hard to attribute.

If something does fail, contact us before anything is opened up. Do not disassemble a column, a motor or a battery pack ahead of a claim: a unit that has already been taken apart is very hard to claim on, whatever the reason it was opened. Photograph the fault, record the serial numbers of the columns involved, and call us.
