Replacing the diaphragm at the first sign of reduced output or increased noise is far better than waiting for complete failure, especially heading into winter when the pump must maintain an open hole in pond ice. How to Replace

Disconnect the air pump from power and airline tubing. Remove the pump cover with a screwdriver to access the diaphragm chamber. Unscrew the diaphragm retainer, remove the worn membrane, and install the new one. Reassemble the cover and reconnect tubing. Test output before returning to service. Replace annually at spring pond startup as preventive maintenance.
