As pond water cools in autumn and fish metabolism slows, waste production continues at a low level. Without cold-adapted bacteria maintaining biological filtration activity, ammonia and nitrite can accumulate over the winter and into spring, stressing fish before they become fully active again. The 8 oz bottle with a pump-top dispenser provides 1 pump per 379 L (100 gal) of precise cold-season dosing, and the initial treatment and maintenance schedule is clearly defined for both autumn start-up and spring transition.

How to Use

Begin cold water bacteria treatment in autumn when pond water temperature falls below 15°C (60°F). For the initial treatment, apply 1 pump per 379 L (100 gal) daily for 10 consecutive days. Follow with a maintenance dose of 1 pump per 379 L (100 gal) weekly until the water surface freezes. Resume in spring when water temperature reaches 10°C (50°F) and apply daily for 10 days, then weekly until water temperature rises above 15°C (60°F), at which point switch back to standard warm-season pond bacteria. Apply near the waterfall or skimmer opening for best distribution.

Ideal for koi and goldfish ponds in climates with cold autumns and winters where standard pond bacteria become ineffective below 10°C (50°F) and biological filtration support is needed through the cold season.
