Description
AMGO PRO-40E: 59″ More Platform, at the Same 40,000 lb Rating
The PRO-40E is not a stronger lift than the standard PRO-40. It is a longer one. Both models are rated at 40,000 lbs; the E adds 59″ of platform, which takes the lift out to 425″ overall with the ramps fitted and 374″ with them removed. If the vehicles that hold up your workflow are long rather than merely heavy — stretch limousines, motorhomes, extended fleet chassis, tandem-axle service trucks — that extra 59″ is the entire reason this model exists, and it is the only number on this page worth deciding on first.
Everything else follows the AMGO super-duty four-post pattern: chain- and cable-driven carriages, a mechanical self-locking safety stack, and a single heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder doing the work. What you are buying with the E is length you cannot add later.
Will It Fit?
A 40,000 lb four-post lift is a building decision as much as an equipment decision. Measure before you order, not after the truck arrives.
- Floor length. Allow for 425 3/16″ overall with the ramps in place. Without ramps the structure is 374 9/16″. Then add the room a driver needs to line up straight before the approach — a lift you have to shunt onto is a lift technicians avoid.
- Floor width. The lift measures 161 7/16″ across the outside of the columns, with 143 7/8″ clear between them. The runways themselves sit between 104 15/16″ and 114 13/16″ across their outside edges depending on how you set them.
- Ceiling height. The columns stand 91 13/16″ tall. Your usable ceiling has to clear that plus the tallest vehicle you intend to raise plus the rise you actually want — a lift that cannot reach its own 74 13/16″ maximum height because of a joist is a lift you paid for twice.
- Drive-through clearance. 129 7/8″ between the carriages. That is the number that decides whether a dual-rear-wheel chassis or a wide-body coach goes through cleanly.
- Power. A 2.0 HP power unit on 220 V single phase. Have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit, the disconnect and the run length for your building before delivery day.
- Concrete. AMGO states the required slab depth and strength in the installation manual supplied with the lift and linked further down this page. Meeting it — including any core drilling, saw cutting or pour required — is the buyer's responsibility. We cannot see your floor, and no lift specification can substitute for reading the manual against your own slab.
Why the Lock Stack Matters More Than the Capacity
A four-post lift at rest is not held up by hydraulics. It is held on mechanical locks, and the hydraulics only move it between them. The PRO-40E carries a mechanical self-locking safety device with an air-driven lock release, plus multiple primary safety locks, as standard. The practical effect is that the lift parks itself: raise it, let it settle onto the locks, and the load is carried by steel, not by oil pressure and a seal.
The second half of that system is the cable-slack protection. A cable-driven four-post's realistic failure mode is not a snapped column — it is one corner going slack while the other three keep pulling, which is how a platform gets out of level with a vehicle on it. The slack-detection system exists to stop that motion rather than to detect it after the fact. AMGO specifies aircraft-standard cable throughout, which is the grade of cable chosen for its known, published breaking and fatigue behaviour rather than for its price.
One Cylinder, Sealed Properly
The PRO-40E uses a single heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder with high-quality oil seals and a compensation valve. The compensation valve is the part worth understanding: it keeps the lift's descent controlled and even instead of letting the platform drop at whatever rate gravity and load happen to dictate. On a 40,000 lb rating, an uncontrolled descent is not a comfort problem, it is a safety one, and it is the detail that separates a heavy-duty commercial cylinder from a scaled-up light-duty one.
Runways You Can Set to the Vehicle
Width between the runways is adjustable from 49 1/16″ to 58 7/8″. That range is what lets one lift serve a narrow-track limousine chassis and a dual-rear-wheel truck without compromise: set them in for a car-derived platform so a technician can still reach the centre of the underbody, set them out for duals so the tyres sit properly on the deck. The platforms are non-skid diamond plate, which matters most on the day a vehicle is driven on wet.
Perfect For
- Limousine and coach operators — the 59″ of extra platform is aimed squarely at wheelbases that overhang a standard super-duty four-post.
- RV and motorhome service — length and drive-through clearance together, rather than one at the expense of the other.
- Municipal and industrial fleet shops — refuse chassis, utility bodies and heavy service trucks that live above a standard truck lift's rating.
- Heavy-duty truck shops that already run a shorter four-post and need a second bay for the long jobs.
It is not a home-garage lift, and we would rather say so. The footprint, the ceiling requirement and the rigging needed to unload it all point to a commercial building.

Certification, Stated Plainly
The power unit supplied with this lift is ETL certified. That is a third-party listing of the electrical assembly — the motor, the pump and the control circuit — against a recognised electrical safety standard. It is worth having, and many shop insurers ask for exactly that on any powered equipment.
It is not the same document as a North American third-party structural certification of the lift itself, and it should not be read as one. If your insurer, your fleet policy, a state inspection regime or a local authority requires the lift to carry a third-party lift-safety listing, ask them precisely which listing they mean and confirm it in writing before you order. We would rather answer that question honestly up front than have it surface at your first inspection.
Shipping and Delivery
This lift ships as freight to the lower 48 states. It is not a parcel and it will not arrive in a van.
You need a way to get it off the trailer. A forklift with real capacity, a telehandler or an overhead crane are the usual answers; the driver is not equipped to unload it for you. If you have no way to receive it, take terminal pickup instead and collect it with your own equipment — that is often the smoother option for a lift this size. Warehouse pickup is also available, and the pickup locations for AMGO are listed further down this page.
Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your ZIP code, so the price you see is the price for your lane on the day.
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Walk the crates, count the pieces, photograph anything bent, scraped or crushed, and write the damage on the bill of lading before the driver leaves. A signed clean BOL is the carrier's evidence that it arrived intact, and a damage claim raised afterwards is very hard to win.
Warranty
AMGO's warranty terms and the claim process are on our warranty claims page. One practical warning worth repeating: if something is wrong, do not disassemble the component before you raise the claim. Stripping a cylinder, a power unit or a lock assembly to diagnose it yourself is the most common reason a legitimate claim gets refused. Photograph it, describe it, and call us first.
